Center for Performing Arts
In your light, I learn how to love.
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you,
but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art. ~Rumi
In the depths of winter, we must learn to tend our own light, to spark, and grow, and flame. This special class honors the ancient Imbolc – a time of year that honors the growing fire, the creative fire, the spiritual fire within each of us.
You’ll practice a series of Kundalini Yoga kriyas to ignite the inner light, grow the flames, and keep them burning for these long nights. These practices balance the nervous system, glandular system for an overall sense of well being physically, mentally, emotionally. These are very powerful practices especially for seasonal affective disorder.
Throughout the kriya, Nicole will be reading poetry from the great mystics: Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Mira, St. Theresa of Avila, and more. Their words are like candles that we may light our own from. They carry the direct connection to the divine, with no emissary. They are beacons whose words can evoke a feeling of God/Goddess in the body, here and now.
This powerful combination of Kundalini Yoga and the words of the mystics will weave art and yoga for a powerful experience of your own sacredness to honor this powerful season.
